Citrus are a band whose journey we’ve followed closely here at Youth Pleasure. With their latest release Thursday they’ve hit the mark once again and proved why we’re all so addicted.
Describing the track as ‘a middle finger to expectations of university or a secure career plan’, the lyrics are certainly relatable to a lot of young individuals. This is what makes this band so unique, writing songs about real life topics as appose to the mundane ‘love’ songs. It makes their music that much better, having a boogie but connecting to the lyrics simultaneously.
The opening is something different to what we’ve heard from the quartet before, somewhat easing us in to the wall of energy that hits soon after. The smooth combination of strong guitar riffs amongst the backbeat of the rhythm section makes for an extremely danceable track. I can only imagine how a live crowd would react; a feel good track that never slows down is something we all love.
Each release shows a massive step up from the last which definitely provides a promising future for these young hopefuls, and of course being a female fronted band is something we are backing hard.
