Who Are FEET?

Coventry based FEET might be a band you haven't seen much of but they're certainly one you're going to want to get to know. Having had their music released through Yala! Records, they're set for promising heights sharing a platform with the likes of The Magic Gang. Making music which can only be described as loud and angsty, it's sure to get the crowd moving at any live show. We were lucky enough to catch them perform at this years Truck Festival, and caught up with bassist Oliver Shasha after their performance.

How did FEET form?

It all started at uni where we were bored and George (lead vocals) formed a music society called the 'alternative and indie music society' - disgusting name Then he got some of us together and I was actually the last person to be brought in because no one knows anyone that wants to play bass. It was as simple as being formed of members of the music society at university.

Why did you choose the name FEET?

We wanted something that would be silly and stood out, as well as reflecting our personalities. It was actually the first suggestion we has when we were at wetherspoons about to watch The Libertines and decided we needed a name for this band. It was only meant to be a temporary name from then on but we just couldn't think of anything better.

What is your favourite song to perform live?

It's a new song, we played it today, it's called AdBlue. It's a really fun song and we only wrote it about a week ago but there's a good back story behind it. So we started out at the farm and I didn't know which tank the water belonged in, so I just chose a clear tank, but it turns out that tank actually dispenses something called AdBlue which is something you put in diesel engines. I put all of that into a kettle and boiled it then tried to make teas with it, so handed it out but thankfully I tried a bit, otherwise that could have ended really badly. The song isn't necessarily about that, it's just a cool name that resonates.

If you could play any other instrument other than bass, which would you play?

I want to be able to play piano. Piano is the coolest instrument because you see someone playing and they know exactly what they're doing, it's just infinite envy on my part. Callum in the band, the guy with the moustache, he plays piano and is amazing so I want to be able to do that. I reckon I can kind of play violin because I played it when I was in primary school, but if I picked it up now I would probably be clueless.

Is there an album/EP in the works?

Yes we are currently writing an album at the farm, I can't disclose much, but if it's successful it could potentially be out in the next year.

Make sure you follow FEET on social media to keep up with those new releases.
