It may be Friday 13th but it sure is a lucky day for music. Valeras and Wax Colour have blessed us all with two brand new singles which you can listen to in our Brand New X2 playlist here.

Since the rebrand, Valeras have been working hard at progressing their new sound, touring like mad with the likes of The Wombats, Yonaka and Fickle Friends to name but a few, and achieved all of this alongside recording this whopper of a bopper. Louder, brought to us by Berkshire's infamous 5 piece in collaboration with producer Larry Hibbitt, has been cutting about on the setlist for quite some time now and it's release can only mean one thing - belting out that infectious chorus at the one man dance party in your bedroom every night (or indeed kitchen floor, if you want channel some hardcore KT King vibes). The single deviates slightly from the EP and takes them on a slower more soulful route and the contrast is warmly welcomed, but don't fear their Reading Rock Academy roots are still deep set with the hefty drumming from Max Sealy. This is really only the start of their career and it's bewildering that they're already producing such high quality recordings alongside a fairly heavy gig schedule. You can join the crew tonight at Borderline for their London show with Demob Happy.

What On Earth Will The Papers Say is Wax Colour's first Spotify release and they've kicked the walls down into their new platform with a bang. The band are made up of Essex's finest Charl Paine, Micheal Broadway, Mark Ellis and Josh Grove. WOEWTPS has the iconic carefree riffs we all know and love from their EP. The track is sure to fill you with nostalgia for the long drunk summers of being 17 and in some respects makes them bear reference to the likes of The Stone Roses. This is by far my favourite release of theirs yet and this might just be the epitome of Wax Colour's sound. But alas, we can only wait patiently to find out if they can keep up with the standards they've set for themselves with this peak of on-brand content. You can join the boys for the launch party tonight in Chelmsford where they'll be joined by four (FOUR !) other bands including every indie twitter kid's favourite, The Recreation.
