Meet Mint, the Grimsby quartet who 'make music to make you kiss strangers'. They seem to have played just about every festival in the country this summer, including Reading today. We were lucky enough to ask frontman Zak a few questions before the band took to the Jack Rocks stage this evening:

Firstly, let's get to know you – introduce yourselves, who does what in the band?
Zak – frontman, Veggie – drums, Lenny – guitar and Bambi - bass
Could you tell us the story behind how the band formed and the name choice?
Mint was a drunk joke that just kinda stuck. Personally I’ve never got on with the name but hey ho. We met at a party during college!
Festival season has been crazy for you this year, what have been some of the highlights?
Probably Andy breaking his arm. We ran into each other and he broke his arm at Isle of Wight. We also had a drink with Crouchy, that was fun!
Would you say any artists have directly have influenced your sound? Do you have any non-musical influences?
Not particularly! We listen and like LOADS of shit. Like we all listen to so much music. I think that in itself is enough. Like 5% of which is similar to Mint but 95% is proper different.
I love all of your stuff but my favourite track has to be Wonderland, what was the inspiration behind it?
It’s about Grimsby and Cleethorpes! It’s such a shame that there’s just nothing happening there anymore. And I thought I’d make a good song to capture what a beautiful little hell hole it is.
What does the future hold for you guys?
Reading, new song, video, tour, endorsement with Eastwood guitars and hopefully a few more festivals!
