Introducing Nobodies Birthday, a 5 rock piece from Reading that you may not have heard of, but should definitely feast your ears on. We ask them all about inspiration surrounding their sound, dream bands to tour with and there most memorable gigs. Having recently released their debut album there's definitley a lot more ahead for this band.

Firstly let's get to know you, introduce yourselves, which instruments do you all play?
Hi we're Dom (vocals), Steve (rhythm guitar), Ryan (lead guitar), Tom (drums) and Brendon (bass).
Who are your influences that have led to the development of your sound?
We've got a few directions that influences have come from but the shared sound is an older indie feel. Bands like Oasis, The Libertines, The Stone Roses etc. But we've also got a strong love for newer stuff. Steve for example is a big fan of Peace, Dom and Tom love The 1975 and we've all got constantly changing favourite bands but it pretty much all revolves around indie.
You've recently played a show with The Pigeon Detectives, how was that?
It was great! We first played with the guys in Pigeon Detectives back in October, as support for them in Reading. We got to spend a bit of time with the lads and ended up being asked to support them again for a few dates on their UK tour in March this year. It was the first time we'd been out on the road on a proper tour and those boys made it really easy. On top of that we were all fans of The Pigeon Detectives from 2007 onwards so it was quite a big deal for us!
What's been the best show you've played?
I think there's probably two we could all agree on. Both support slots weirdly enough. At Sub89 in Reading was one - it was a hometown gig for us supporting The Sherlocks and anyone who was there that night deserves a load of credit because the crowd were crazy and really good for us. The other was probably on the tour with The Pigeon Detectives - we played Electric Ballroom in Camden and it's the biggest venue we've played, was the last night of the tour and we had a small army of friends and family come up from Reading too!
Who'd be your dream band to play alongside?
So difficult! I think we're going to be greedy and choose three. All time probably The Beatles, currently active would have to be Kasabian but Oasis is a pretty strong candidate too!
Being a band from Reading, do you find it challenging being surrounded by so many other bands?
I don't think we've seen it as a challenge. It's cool because a lot of the Reading bands doing so well are all making music we really like and enjoy listening too so I don't think we really care where it's come from! Reading is now really starting to blossom on the indie scene especially and I think we have to see it as a positive rather than a challenge.
Your debut album is out, how did you find the writing process for this?
How long have you got?! The songs really come together when we're all in a room. The songs are largely written about relationships and mental ex's - they even get a credit in the album sleeve! But some of the songs came about really quickly and we knew were going to make the album whereas others took a fair while to get to a level we were happy with but it was all pretty enjoyable.
Are there any singles planned following the album?
We released a couple of singles in the run up to the album and have done a couple of music videos. I think we may do something else for one of the album tracks but really we're concentrating on rehearsing new tracks with a view to having a brand new single out before the end of the year.
What's your schedule looking like for gigs this year?
We have a few shows in September. So far we've announced a slot at Bunkfest in Walingford as well as a support slot with Superglu and Bad Pop which we're really looking forward to. There's a few more dates to be announced then I think we might have to sneak off for a bit to get recording!
