This time last week, Lucky Punks took to the stage of Coventry’s Kasbah with support from Model Life and Cøusins. I only saw Lucky Punks for the first time recently, when they supported The Amazons on their tour, so I was excited to see what they’d produce when headlining a show, especially at one of my favourite venues.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people in the crowd were loving the music. There were far more people than I'd expected wearing merch and singing along. Despite only having three songs on their Spotify, it’s clear that this band have a large Coventry following.

One of my personal highlights was I Want You to Say but all of the songs, including new ones, got a great response from the crowd. Even people unfamiliar with the music lapped up the band's energy and had a great time. Another of my highlights was Sleeping Dogs, which got the best reaction from the crowd as it was evident this is one of the band's favourite songs to play live.

In my opinion, Lucky Punks sounded better at this show than in recordings. In our interview with them back in April, Pizey (drums and backing vocals) said 'I think the recordings don’t really reflect what it is live, live is a bit heavier' and I completely agree. They really put on a show and played to the crowd.

All in all it was a great show. The crowd may not have been the biggest Lucky Punks have ever played to, but they were received so well the size of the crowd didn't matter. I highly recommend seeing these boys live if you ever have the chance.
