With the current heat wave the UK is experiencing it seems as though summer has finally arrived, and what best to accompany the warm weather than some bands to help you along the way. Here are a few bands I’ll be jamming to these summer months.

Birmingham indie pop lovers never fail to hit the nail on the head with their tracks. Close your eyes and you’ll feel as though you’re sat on a beach accompanied by the soft waves. The mix of soft melodies over a rock beat will certainly get you in that summer spirit.

Top picks: BreeZe, Sunset State, On the Sunshine, 17

The distinct sound of American indie rock band will send you into a daze that is hard to snap yourself out of. Their sound can be described as lo-fi and atmospheric which suits perfectly for the late summer nights.

Top picks: What a Pleasure, Clash The Truth, Window View

Year after year I find myself gravitating to Swim Deep’s debut album Where The Heaven Are We Now. A common theme with Jaws and Beach Fossils is the influence from shoe gaze and psychedelic pop, perfectly fitting the bill for the warm weather. Admittedly I haven’t given their second album a chance but their debut does it all for me.

Top picks: The Sea, Soul Trippin, King City, She Changes The Weather

Having not paid much attention to this German duo after Stolen Dance had been massively overplayed. But since their latest release Blossom, I have been re enticed and I’m ready for the folk come reggae come electronic influenced group to produce more some ready tunes.

Top picks: Blossom, Flashed Junk Mind

Yes I’ve fallen under the trance from the guitar heavy psychedelic pop created by Australian babes Tame Impala. Switch on any one of their albums and immediately you’ll feel like you’re being taken to another dimension, which is perfectly paired with the warm weather. News of a hiatus broke my heart as they’re certainly fit for the festival circuit.

Top Picks: Let It Happen, Elephant, Eventually, Why Won’t They Talk To Me?
