Our beloved Reading quartet released their debut album last week, and it’s safe to say it’s filled with anthems that will fulfil all your rock needs. Having spoken of taking a heavier turn with this album, they definitely delivered with their promise. Your ears will be ringing upon your first run through of the 11 track masterpiece.
Stay With Me is the perfect opening throwing us straight into the deep end. Filled with exciting guitar riffs and lyrics that cement into your brain forever. The following songs, such as Raindrops, hold this level of euphoria which sets the vibe that these rockers are bound for stadiums soon enough.
The record includes old favourites Ultraviolet and Junk Food Forever which have been re vamped to fit the new found energy of The Amazons. There are no signs of the record slowing down even with slightly softer tracks such as Holy Roller, the acoustic opening shows the start of the variation that the band can produce. The final track, Palace, is by far the most refreshing sound of them all. The vulnerability we’re exposed to of lead singer Matt Thomson alone with the piano is something quite beautiful.
This album is just the beginning for this energetic quartet, and nothing will stop their well deserved rise to the top.
