We recently chatted with London rockers J.W. Paris about future EPs and weird gigs, have a read below to see what they're all about.

How did you all meet?

As a band we all came together around 2 years ago wanting to just start a creative outlet for gritty music and consume copious amounts of whiskey. Aaron and Danny have been friends from day one, actually both our Dad’s were in the same band touring the 90’s in eyeliner and polka dot blouses - sounded a bit like Suede… not as good though. Now we’ve shifted ourselves to London and trying to gig, drink or dance wherever will have us.

Where did the name J.W Paris come from?

Buy a T-shirt and read the back…. OR ask us directly at a gig. Happy to share in person. It’s worth it.

How would you describe your sound?

Bluesy, anthem-like rock and roll with a hint of 90s grunge. Who are your main influences? Jack White, Dandy Warhols, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Nirvana, Iggy Pop, Rolling Stones and Placebo.

You've just released BERLIN, what was the process behind that?

Spawned at 4 in the morning in an intoxicated self loathing state - like most good songs come out of. Berlin is used as a metaphor for a place of escapism, replicating a big shift in our lives, leading to where we are now as a band and our personal circumstances. There is no length on the concept of Berlin and its always about how easily escapism can swallow your own and other’s reality.

How does BERLIN compare to your last single RAPTURE?

Rapture was a trashy let-go constant noise, quintessential fuck you. Rapture still one our favourites in our live show. It drives forward… Berlin is more about the dynamics, yes it’s still trashy and has our sound but its about the highs and lows musically and in its meaning.

Is there an ep in the works for the future?

Just confirmed (exclusive) we have been invited to get away from London in July to go into a studio in rural north wales to be locked away for 4 days and come up with an EP - you may here some of these new ones in our current set.

Which would be your dream band to tour with?

The White Stripes OR Jack White OR essentially anything connected to that man.

What's the weirdest gig you've played?

Recently played Extreme Festival which put our stamina to the test, no, it wasn’t trying to get through a 30 minute set in a field in Kent - They had the largest blow up obstacle course in said field as well… Let’s just say we started it at 3:30pm and still on it at 4:25pm… We cannot look at a bouncy castle in the same way, you weren’t there…

The band are currently taking a break from touring to focus on new music, but keep an eye on their socials for when they're back on the circuit.
