Often underappreciated, photographers are an integral part of music/art blogs, and should be treasured. Music photography, and just photography in general, is on the rise and we're loving the amount of new talent emerging, especially among the Reading music scene. These four young photographers are some of our favourites and deserve a lot of recognition, so please take the time to check out their work:

I've been shooting gigs for coming up to a year now, honestly I'm not really sure what made me want to pick up a camera, but I did and it turns out I wasn't half bad at it. I remember looking at what people like Matt Goff were doing with Haize and The Amazons a few years ago, thinking it was the coolest thing to take these photos of people doing what they love. Elliot Ingham was also a massive influence on me due to how far he's come in such a short space of time. I had the opportunity a few months ago to shoot Two Door Cinema Club and Circa Waves at Alexandra Palace, which was incredible, but I mostly work with local bands like Valeras and The Makarov Scheme, which is great as the Reading scene is the most vibrant I think it's ever been.

Hey, I'm Betsy and I'm a music photographer from Reading. I started out this year after saving for ages for my first professional camera, and am mega excited about the current and future Reading music scene!

I got a snazzy film camera for Christmas and so I've picked up the lovely hobby of photography! I love going into town exploring and taking photos of my pals, their smiling faces when they see the photos of them looking fierce is neat as feet. I prefer shooting film because it holds a bit of personality and it's like getting a present every time I get a roll developed. My special skill is that I don't own a digital camera and so I have to rely on friends and my college to lend me the equipment which feels quite DIY and fun. I always have a different number in tippex on my camera. I've recently taken up gig photography and due to some wonderful mates have had some fantastic opportunities eg being squashed while taking photos of Sundara Karma at Kamio (ty Bloxx). My favourite gig to photograph so far was The Wytches, so much wild HAIR!

I don't know what exactly got me into photography, I've always been interested in it, but I didn't get properly into it until I started shooting gigs in 2015. One of my biggest influences ever is Annie Liebovitz although everyone says that because she's so famous but that's because she's incredible. Her candids of the stones on tour are amazing, so well thought out and so interesting to look at but they're so natural. She doesn't exclusively do music work, I don't think she even does it any more, and she really makes me want to break out of my comfort zone. But in terms of more modern people, I get influenced so much by the music community, young music photographers/videographers are on the rise and they're being led by the likes of Phoebe Fox, Ellen Offredy and Matt Goff, all of who are huuuuge and for good reason. Alice Hadden and Jake Haseldine are also really good.
Photography makes me so HAPPY, especially music work. I love that environment - you're doing what you love the best and you're capturing people on stage who are doing what they love best. It's just lit.
