Liverpool’s fuzz-pop quartet dropped their debut album last week. The 11 track record perfectly displays what it means to be indie pop, making it a young person’s dream. A combination of catchy guitar riffs and choruses you can scream loud make this a perfect summer album.
Highs and lows of heartbreaks and love stories are intertwined through every beat. With favourites such as ‘Vitamin C’ and ‘We Used To Be In Love’ featured you’ll sure feel your head bopping to this easy listening album.
Unfortunately it lacks the wow factor I know Clean Cut Kid can showcase, each song seems somewhat repetitive and I struggle to listen to a full run through of the album. The energy of their live performances doesn’t shine through in the basic storyline of the lyrics.
My love will however continue for this band, and whenever I need a pick me up I’ll turn to this album. The lyrics relate to every aspect of life, friendship and love, or lack of. Despite a slight shortfall of excitement, Clean Cut Kid have created an album to be proud of and deserve to see big things in the future.
