If you've ever felt like you needed a playlist of 10 songs with some of the biggest and beefiest basslines and riffs, your calls have been answered.

Make sure to check it out on our Spotify.

1. The Amazons - Black Magic

What would a playlist of some of the best bass and riffs be without our favourite Reading boys, The Amazons? This playlist could easily just be made up of tracks from The Amazons, but since it can only contain one, it had to be their most recent release Black Magic, which is arguably head and shoulders above the rest. Seconds in we are met with a signature riff from Chris Alderton setting a high standard that continues for the rest of the song. Every time I hear this tune it further fuels my excitement for the band's debut album.

2. Baby Strange - Pleasure City

I'm nowhere near as big a fan of Baby Strange as I used to be, but Pleasure City is one of those songs I'll never stop loving and a chorus I'll never stop singing along to. The short but sweet riff that follows the first chorus along with and the hard-hitting bass, vocals and percussion throughout mean this is an anthemic rock song.

3. Estrons - Make a Man

Having seen Estrons recently when they supported The Amazons on their headline tour when unfamiliar with their music I was keen to have another listen. Make a Man from their newest EP, She’s Here Now, definitely fits the description 'heavy pop'. Having supported Slaves as well as The Amazons, this band is growing and I'm looking forward for their future releases.

4. Weirds - Yolk

I'd not listened to Weirds before today, but I definitely will be listening again. Yolk is a grungy, heavy number with a funky, psychedelic feel. The Leeds quartet's debut album is set for release in June so I'd recommend having a listen before then.

5. Hello Operator - Vex Money

6. Royal Blood - Lights Out

After the success of their first self-titled album released in 2014, Royal Blood gave us a teaser of their upcoming album How Did We Get So Dark? by the releasing Lights Out on the 11th of April. The single is very obviously Royal Blood: it opens with the familiar thumping bass and pounding drums, yet somehow sounds more mature than the Brighton duo's previous material. If you haven't already, I really recommend having a listen, especially to the epic bass solo at 2.32.

7. Hidden Charms - Love You 'Cause You're There

8. Muse - Uprising

I'm sure it's no surprise to anyone to find Muse on this playlist. The lead single from the band's fifth studio album, The Resistance, Uprising was released in 2009. With a heavy bassline and the lead guitar riffs it bears similarity to Blondie's hit track Call Me: something which Blondie have referenced themselves.

9. VANT - KARMA SEEKER

KARMA SEEKER starts off deceptively mellow, with only a subtle bass at the beginning of the song, but becomes far more chaotic towards the end, as the bass and vocals taking a darker turn. Despite this, the song remains mellow and unobstructive overall.

10. Tame Impala - The Less I Know The Better

No description needed.

Remember you can check our Spotify any time to see what we're listening to xx
